BERA Volleyball League General Information
League Structure
There are 5 leagues (in order of decreasing skill level):
- Open League A: This league is open to any eligible player regardless of gender. Teams can be composed of any number of men and/or women. It is recommended that players be intermediate to advanced. Hits are hard-driven and most teams will run set plays. This league plays on Monday nights.
- Mixed League 1: Teams in this league must field at least 2 women and at most 3 men. This league is generally composed of players who play in both Open Leagues and in Mixed League 2. There are no restrictions on serving or spiking. Beginners may find this league too difficult. This league did not form this year.
- Open League B: Our most popular league. This league is open to any eligible player regardless of gender. Teams can be composed of any number of men and/or women. The skill level of this league is not necessarily as high as that for Open League A or Mixed League 1, and can be ranked as an intermediate level. Beginning players may find this league to be difficult. This league plays on Wednesday nights.
- Mixed League 2: Teams in this league must field at least 2 women and at most 3 men. This is a good league for beginning to intermediate players. Men must serve underhand. There are no restrictions on spiking. This league plays on Monday nights.
- Mixed League 3: Teams in this league must field at least 2 women and at most 3 men. This is our beginning level league. Men must serve underhand. No hard spiking is allowed. This league plays on Wednesday nights.
